Project 10 Pan-list update

As I said, I hit pan on one of my go to eyeshadows the lighter of the two which is good so I’m on my way.

Current:

  1. L’Oreal Million Lashes- Just bought this last week and I’m liking it so far compared to my usual mascara, but I don’t need to own four different mascaras.  I usually go through a tube a month anyway, but I’ll use this until it’s dried up completely or three months, which ever comes first.
  2. My “go to” eyeshadow-  I have two eyeshadows that I mix together in order to get my ideal lid color that I use for most of my looks, but I bought an eyeshadow yesterday that I think will become my new favorite.  Until I use these two eyeshadows up, no more shadows at all.  I own enough.
  3. L’Oreal Color Riche True Red lipstick- I currently have two of my favorite red lipsticks, which is unnecessary.  I have one that I usually throw in my purse for touch ups and one that I keep in my collection, but I need to finish the older one so I only have one tube floating around.
  4. NYC Pink Glow blush- I’ve already hit pan on this, but there’s still a while to go.  This is one of my favorite blushes in my collection.  I bought two blushes yesterday however, so time to use them all up.
  5. Nail polish, more particularly red hues- I own so much nail polish I don’t use, it’s a problem.  My mom got me another awesome red color for Christmas.  However, I honestly don’t know how I haven’t used all the polish I own up yet.  I paint my nails 2 to 3 times a week.  that’s also a problem.

Added:

  1. Rimmel Long Lasting Age Defying Primer- I’ve had this forever along with two other primers and I like this one the least so I want to get rid of it before investing in a new one.  The next primer I plan on buying is the L’Oreal Magic Perfecting Base.
  2. L’Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation- While I don’t dislike this product, there are better foundations out there.  Liquid foundation is my preference and that’s what I want to go back to.  I have a little of my usual foundation left that I use for going out and other situations and use the L’Oreal foundation for every day work use.

That’s all I got, so I’m up to seven.  I’m working on finding other products to use up, I swear.  I did give in and buy one makeup product, a lip product, a Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart.  I’m quite enjoying these so far.

So where have I been?

So it turns out that doing a Project 10 Pan when you’re trying to blog about makeup isn’t a good idea.  Go figure.  In all honesty, I doubt that project will make it.  Spring makeup lines are coming out and I doubt I’ll be able to hold myself back.  I did actually hit pan today on an eyeshadow that I set out to use so that’s an achievement!

The truth is, I haven’t been doing much of anything including browsing through the makeup aisles at my local drugstore because I’ve been stuck in bed and immobile because of recent injury I got.  I’m starting to feel better, but I have to work some extra hours since I missed some shifts before I can splurge on some new makeup.  My nails have grown out a bit though since I’ve been avoiding any kind of manual labor so I’m planning on doing some fun things with my nails this weekend.

Any who, thanks if you’re still following this blog.  I appreciate it!  I start a second job and classes again in a little over a week plus I’ve started freelancing at another magazine publication so I’m hoping to still make the time for a fun blog post here and there about makeup.

Project 10 Pan

If you don’t know what project 10 pan is I’ll break it down.  Project 10 Pan is more of a metaphorical term, but it’s a project for makeup enthusiasts such as myself to use of the makeup they own before purchasing more.  It’s something that is good in concept, but will probably turn out terrible.  I’m deciding on this project to use up more of my drugstore products before investing in higher end products.  Also because I just bought a new iPhone today and I need to save some money for rent.

I haven’t decided on all of the products that I’m going to include in the project, but I started a list:

So this isn’t 10, but I am setting this in stone.  Basically it’s just a more fun way to put buying makeup on lock down.  We’ll see how this goes…

Nails of the Week: Christmas Glitter Nightmare

The only reason I say this is a nightmare is because taking glitter off is one of the worst things in the world.  Even using straight acetone (I know it’s bad for my nails) it takes forever, but I’m not going to be able to use this nail polish again until next Christmas so I’m rolling with it.

I used this polish a couple weeks ago when I first got it, but once again it’s China Glaze Twinkle Lights.  This is about three coats of the glitter with a top coat to make the top less rough and less likely to hook onto my hair, clothing, or anything at work.

Hope you have a joyous holiday season!  Merry Christmas! (Or Happy Holidays!)

My Ultimate Christmas Wish

I know no one is really going to get these for me, however, the likelihood of me getting a Sephora or Ulta gift card at Christmas is very high so I may actually be able to get this then.

I’ve been seeing this blush being used by a lot of YouTube gurus and they all rave about it.  It’s the Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush.  It comes in a variety of shades and is $25.  I really should have invested in these when they were on a sale on Black Friday a few weeks ago, but I didn’t so oh well.

Here’s a review from one of my favorite gurus.

If I had to choose two colors I would get the nude shade since I don’t have a good plain blush and probably the light pink so it goes with everything.

Nails of the Week: Red and Gold Glitter

I saw the tutorial on this and I had to do it!  I’ve needed a use for my gold glitter  and this works perfectly.  As the video says the nails work well for a good holiday nail and you can change the nail and glitter color for different holidays.

Mine didn’t turn out quite as good as her’s just because my nails are shorter (and the polish is still a bit messy on my skin), but I’m still happy with them!  I hope they make it through work this week.

Fushia Lip Stick

Since I feel like I kind of cheated posting two nails of the week, I’ll post something else.  Something I’ve been loving lately is fushsia lip stick.  I would love it if I had a solid purple lip stick as well as hot pink, but this is a good in between.  It works well in fall/winter too if you ask me.

The color is from L’Oreal and it’s Sea Fleur.  I tried taking a picture of me wearing it, but I promise I look awkward and you don’t want to see it.

The secret to wearing lip stick like this (bright and uncommon) is to go neutral everything else.  I wore almost no eye shadow, simple black liner (the usual wing), black pants and a gray top.  Most of my “going out” clothing is black just so I can wear loud lip stick.  Sometimes with colors like this I get weird looks, but honestly I’ve never had anyone call me out for wearing it.  I have this feeling that no one will ever say anything because it takes a lot of courage, in my opinion, to wear bold lip colors especially during the day and to class no less.

Blogging about makeup has been awesome!  I’m sure I’ll keep up with a few makeup blog posts, but starting next week this blog will go back to random thoughts from me.  Thanks for reading!
